Dominican reggaeton singer Natti Natasha (born Natalia Alexandra Gutiérrez Batista) gained popularity with numerous chart-topping singles. Her duet single with Don Omar on “Dutty Love” became a major breakthrough in her music career and being one of the most streamed songs on a music platform. She is honored with several Latin awards.
The artist was born on December 10. 1986 in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic and grew up having interest in music. Her taste of music was influenced by Jerry Rivera, Bob Marley, Lauryn Hill, and Queen. She was 8-years-old when attended the School of Fine Arts in Santiago to develop her singing skills. She also started recording songs as a hobby at the age of 14. After joining several local singing competitions and going on tour with her group D’style, Natasha met a producer of Don Omar’s Orfanato Music Group, Linkon. She got an opportunity to work with him for a song project in New York City. Eventually, Don Omar became Natasha’s mentor and guided her career. She then signed a record deal with Orfanato Music Group.
In 2012, she made a debut with the single “Dutty Love” featuring Don Omar which successfully peaked at the top on the US Latin dance and pop charts. The great single made Natasha received three Billboard Latin Music Awards. It was followed with a full-length album All About Me, boosted by a duet song “Crazy in Love” feat Farruko that entered the top five music chart. Natasha, who rose to stardom, was featured in Don Omar’s tour as the opening and later featured in Farruko’s “Perdido en Tus Ojos” in 2015. In the same year, she left Orfanato and signed to Pina Records.
She continued to contribute to other musicians’ songs and rose to fame through social media. In 2017, she teamed up with Ozuna on the successful single “Criminal” which gained billions of views for the video. It received Gold certification from PIMI, 15x Platinum (Latin) by RIAA, and 4x Platinum by PROMUSICAE. She was also featured in Daddy Yankee’s “Otra Cosa” and released a duet song with Bad Bunny “Amantes de Una Noche”. The latter was Gold certified from PROMUSICAE and got RIAA’s Platinum certification (Latin) twice. Natasha teamed up with the singer-songwriter Becky G on “Sin Pijama”, which topped the music charts in various countries and was certified multi-Platinum. In 2019, she issued the second album IllumiNATTI featuring the single “Quien Sabe”. In addition to her successful singing career, Natasha also took a role in television drama Atlantic City Chronicles.

Natti Natasha is a feminist who has been actively speaking about gender equality at work, especially in music industry. Based on her experience in reggaeton, she found that men dominated the behind-the-scene position, like in songwriting or mixing. It inspired Natasha to believe her power and ability. She tried to emphasize girl-power by working with supportive colleagues in male artists and doing collaboration with women Latinas musicians. In her song “Sin Pajama” feat. Becky G, she received sharp criticism towards singing the pride of being naked and smoking blunts. However, Natasha believed that the song delivered message about celebration of women’s sexual expression.
