Award-winning singer and songwriter John Legend is famous for his soul and R&B music. He was a backup singer before he became a successful musician. He made a debut in 2004 with the album “Get Lifted” and earned three Grammy Awards. Legend’s performance at the 2006 Grammy Awards was then followed by another incredible breakthrough.

John Roger Stephens, the talented singer, born on December 28th, 1978 in Springfield, Ohio to a musical family. Legend was actively joined an a capella group called Counterparts and became a choir director in college. In 1999, after he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, he started his career as a management consultant for a consulting group in New York City. He sold his self-produced CD while performing in nightclubs. He was then introduced to Kanye West who was an upcoming musician and they both collaborated for their music. Legend was involved in West’s debut album, “The College Dropout” (2004). At the other side, West participated in Legend’s major-label debut album “Get Lifted” in the same year.

John Legend’s “Get Lifted” full-length album topped the R&B/hip-hop, peaked at no.4 on the Billboard 200. The album also led him to win three Grammy Award for Best New Artist, Best R&B Male Vocal Performance (for the song Ordinary People), and Best R&B Album. Legend then got more spotlight for his musical talent. In 2006, his second album “Once Again” was released, swiftly platinum-certified. He performed at big shows, including the NBA All-Star Game, the MLB All-Star Game in Pittsburgh, and Super Bowl XL in Detroit.

Legend later released several albums that also gained positive reviews in the music industry. In 2008, he released the album “Evolver”, described as his willingness to experiment new things for his music career. Green Light, a song that featured rapper Andre 3000 became Legend’s next highest-charting song after Ordinary People and earned a Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. Legend’s collaboration album with The Roots called “Wake Up!” successfully gained achievements. It earned three Grammys. In 2013, his song All of Me from the album “Love in the Future” became a mega hit. It was one of the best-selling digital singles of all time and peaked the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album itself was number 4 on Billboard 200.

He recently just released his seventh album “Bigger Love” in June 2020. Legend said that the album tells about how people should be happy in the pandemic. It was all about appreciating the culture with a celebration of hope, joy, and resilience.
