Colombian singer, songwriter, composer, and romantic-ballad artist Sebastián Yatra gained popularity through his romantic lyrics with the influence of modern reggaeton. Established himself as a Latin pop artist, he had his successful single “El Psicólogo” in 2013 and the EDM/reggaeton hit “Traicionera” in 2016. Yatra’s effort was honored with numerous awards, including MTV Europe Awards and HEAT Latin Music Awards.

Born on October 15, 1994 in Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia, Sebastián Yatra spent his childhood in Cartagena de Indias and Miami, US. He was only 12 years-old when he showed an interest in music by singing and writing his own songs. At that time, Yatra also learned guitar, piano, and took vocal technique class. In 2013, he began his music career with a ballad single “El Psicólogo” which was produced by Ender Thomas and Yhonny Atella. It came with great success, made his name rise to fame in Colombia. Yatra then launched “Para Olvidar”, a single that reached number one in radio station charts in Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela.
With the help of some musicians, including Mike Bahía and Juan David Gálvez, Sebastián Yatra released the next single, a pop version of “No me llames” in 2015. After releasing several singles, Yatra embarked on his first tour which led him into invitations to music festivals. He also got a chance to collaborate with Cali & El Dandee and DJ Juan Magán on “Por Fin Te encontré”, a single that successfully entered the Top 10 in iTunes Argentina, Peru, and Ecuador and topped the iTunes chart in Colombia and Spain. The success was followed with the 2015 single “Como Mirarte” that was promoted in several Spanish-speaking countries.
His effort as a talented singer-songwriter was honored with a nomination for the first time in the category “Producers Choice Awards” at the Premios Juventud in 2016. In the “Event 40 Mexico”, Yatra was named as one of the most promising artists in Latin America. He issued an EDM/reggaeton hit “Traicionera” in the middle of 2016, which was commercially successful within a week and became the number 1 hit in the music chart across the countries. The positive response made him also promote the song in the US. Still in the same year, Yatra launched his first mixtape The Mixtape Jukebox, Vol. 1.
The following year, the singer issued an EP, Extended Play Yatra, featuring the hit single “Traicionera”. Another collaboration song, “Ya No Hay Nadie Que Nos Pare” (feat. Martina Alejandra Stoessel) premiered in the beginning of 2017. After issuing many great singles, Yatra released his first ever full-length album, Mantra (2018) that made its debut on top of the Billboard Latin Pop Albums chart. The album was boosted by a collaboration single with Carlos Vives, “Robarte un Beso” which turned out to be a 2018 Latin-Grammy-Awards nominee for Song of the Year. The previous year, he also got two nominations from Latin Grammys, such as Best New Artist and Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album (Extended Play Yatra). In 2020, the next album Fantasía was launched, featuring several collaboration songs. It also came with success by peaking the Billboard Latin Pop Albums chart and received a Grammy nomination.
